The Batnaya Social Association is a registered Canadian not-for-profit organization based in Windsor, Ontario. We are dedicated to supporting connecting and empowering the Chaldean Christian diaspora community in Southwestern Ontario, with a special focus on families tracing their heritage back to the historic village of Batnaya in the Nineveh Plains of Northern Iraq.
Through cultural preservation, community outreach, and federally supported integration programs, we bridge the gap between our rich ancestral history and a bright, self-reliant future in Canada.
Our association is uniquely shaped by the resilience of our homeland. Batnaya is a historically significant Chaldean Christian town with deep Aramaic roots. Following the severe displacements in Northern Iraq over the past decade, many families found a new home in the City of Windsor.
While international efforts work to rebuild our physical village in Iraq, the Batnaya Social Association focuses on the human element. We ensure that our unique cultural traditions, community bonds, and language survive and flourish across generations in the Canadian diaspora.
Our mission is to foster a vibrant, inclusive community by providing the social, educational, and digital tools necessary for successful integration into Canadian society. We achieve this by through our programs, combating senior isolation, building digital and online literacy skills, and providing job opportunities for youth in the local community.
